Eva & Hilario have 2 garden flats to rent (with pool) in Murches, our little village 5km from Cascais. Both flats are air-conditioned (with heating option for winter). They are fully equipped and include bed linen and towels (weekly change available). The kitchenettes have a gas cooker, microwave, fridge, toaster and electric kettle and both have clothes washing machines. Casita Rosa also has a full oven.
It is a quiet location, ideally situated for sight-seeing, coastal strolls, walks in the hills, beaches and, of course, shopping. The village centre is 3 minutes' walk, where you will find a mini-market, hardware store, cafe, video club and magical Panisol which sells wonderful bread and mouth-watering cakes!

THE VILLAGE OF MURCHES
Murches is about 5 km. north of Cascais on the road to Malveira da Serra. Sheltered by the Sintra Hills, it is a village which has escaped the development of high-rise apartments. The houses are mostly detached with gardens and there are many older dwellings surrounded by whitewashed walls. Village life centres around the 2 cafés and small grocery store. The public wash tanks are still used by the locals and the fish van hoots his horn once a week to let us know he has arrived. On a Saturday morning you might hear the distinctive whistle of the knife grinder as he cycles around offering to sharpen knives and fix umbrellas. The road from the centre of the village up to our properties peters out after a while and becomes a dirt track leading down into the valley – a real country walk which Bonnie, our friendly labrador, will happily show you if you are feeling energetic!
CASCAIS
Cascais, lying at the foot of the Sintra Hills facing the Atlantic Ocean, is a stylish resort with expensive yachts moored in the marina, a quaint old town with interesting architecture and an active fishing port. There are excellent restaurants with prices to suit all budgets as well as shops selling designer clothing, leather handbags, bespoke jewellery as well as useful souvenirs. Estoril is just minutes away and the long promenade walk between the two towns is scattered with cafes and restaurants serving fresh fish and succulent charcoal-grilled meat. The Mediterranean-type climate means cool breezes in the summer and mild winters. Cascais is a year-round resort with a truly cosmopolitan feel.
